Today I shared my challenge regarding "Big talkers directing the talk" Some suggestions shared with me I would like to share with the entire group were; - Constructing a T chart with agreed talk practices as an anchor chart. e.g. clarifying talk, grand conversations, talk that is meaningful to the group, using phrases like 'have we heard your voice today?', the group valuing everyone's voice is equally heard. - Using post-its for members to record their contributions and showing which are relevant as a visual. Discuss time on task. - narrow the goal and refer to it regularly. - write individual goals to focus each student. - create self assessments for students to note their effort and contributions. - place counters for contributions in front of students. At the end highlight what the counters represent.
