Maria's Final Reflection

Good to review our journey and think about how to enhance our learnings for next year.
Thanks for the support throughout the year.

Adam's Final Reflection

A great final catch up for R3. I liked the conversation around what we pass on to others for next year. What we pass on, what are the need-to-knows for next year's teachers and also discussion around case conferences as a way to start off next year. Given I'm not returning next year I think its important these boys are monitored and the teachers maybe continue with some of the testing to monitor further growth. Its also important the kids are tagged in some way so teachers and even their high schools know they were part of the program
Session 5
Great discussion re new R3 teachers 2017 and what worked for us this year. Reflection around how our students progressed and what their focus should be for 2017 was very useful. This information will aid planning for new teachers.  Enjoyed thinking about monitoring progress from here on and planning support for our 'graduating' students for next year.

Many thanks to Kathy, Tracey and Jennifer for all the hard work and support this year.

Evaluation

I have really enjoyed the R3 course and think I will be able to apply much of it to any Reading situation I find myself in.I often worry about the older students who need intervention but miss out and this has given them the chance to receive much needed support. I feel more confident in helping the older readers and myself, the class teachers and the librarian have all noticed a difference in their confidence, attitudes and results. I look forward to next year when I will be able to take two Stage 3 groups from the beginning of the year.

The support and expertise of the R3 Teacher Educators has been invaluable and I'm very thankful I have been given the opportunity to complete this course.

Final Session R3 2016

I have really enjoyed being part of the R3 family.  I am finding that not only have I been constantly refining my practise during the intervention group, I have also been refining my practise and questioning during my shared reading and guided reading sessions in Stage One.

As  the students have become more confident during the intervention group, they are taking more risks during the reciprocal teaching sessions and during writing sessions.  I found that modelling writing during the sessions has really assisted my group as that's where they were most lacking.

This training, like reading recovery is a must and beneficial for all teachers.  I hope to continue on this journey and share the knowledge I have gained with my colleagues.

R3 evaluation

WOW what a learning curve we have been on! I have learnt a great deal both on myself as a teacher and about the students I take. It has been a wonderful opportunity to help these students to become more confident readers and speakers.
I feel that I have developed significant skills in reciprocal teaching and this has lead to my improved questioning skills. Teaching the students how to run a session and handing over the 'teaching' to them has proved to be very powerful. They enjoy the challenge of questioning each other and locating the answers.
The support we have received from each other and the TE's has been invaluable. Being able to ask questions of each other in a non-threatening environment and having the knowledge of the TE's to guide us has has been beneficial.
I have learnt a great deal and feel that I am ready to make a difference with a new group next year!

It is very helpful to catch up and talk with other R3 teachers this year. The support at school from Jenny has assisted me to grow as a teacher of reading. All the professional readings have been relevant and useful. This program has been of benefit to the students and myself. Thank you.

R3 Final Session

Thankyou for the support which has been given during this year. We have had some very different forms of professional development but it has been very beneficial. My teaching was supported with the wonderful resources suggested and the children have really enjoyed the different texts. This session was a great time to reflect and share ideas about ongoing support for ourselves and the children. I have really enjoyed working with the older children this year and sharing their journey with my peers. I have also really enjoyed blogging with the students and am looking forward to continuing this next year.
