Session 4     9/11/16
Many thanks to Jennifer for allowing us to observe her fabulous lesson today. It was so beneficial to see the lesson in action with 'explicit teaching' through such great think alouds. I'm taking away many ideas to implement in my own group. The visual displays and use of a variety of media has have given me new ideas to trial. Thanks again, Julie

Session 4

As always it is great to catch up with the other R3 teachers and know that we all have similar concerns about our students. It was great to watch Jen's lesson as it showed me what can be done but also affirmed me that alot of what I am doing is right for my R3's. It is so important to work on the vocab that they come across each session. I know this is important but at the same time it takes up so much time each session. Thank you

R3 Session 4

Wow! What a valuable experience. Today watching Jen was eye opening and affirming to what I have been doing but also some great ideas for a way forward. You have to make the each session work for you and your kids. So if they need more time on one thing. That's ok. If they need to work on vocabulary. That's ok. If they need to write down questions as they read to help them form their questions and 'ink their thinking'. That's ok.

Viewing an R3 session

What an amazing session! It was brilliant to see the reciprocal teaching in action with students. I found it inspiring and helpful. Seeing how Jen was able model how to clarify words and write/ create questions was extremely helpful. She used her talk aloud to model not only her own thoughts but to give inspiration to her students.
The continual praise and support given to each student through the out loud thinking, the sentence starters and anchor charts was great to see. I could see how these things benefit all the students and how there are clear goals and strategies they can use.
I found it all inspiring.

R3 Session 4

I noticed in Jen's lesson the children were very engaged and understood what was expected of them. I was very affirmed by the reciprocal teaching session of the lesson. I feel that my students find it very easy to ask clarifying questions and are able to question and answer each other. I would like to extend this by getting the students to write their questions and then use this to summarise what has been read. I was also reminded by Jen that feedback to the students individually as well as the group as a whole is vital in moving forward. I will certainly be focusing on this in my own practice.

Lesson Observation

Todays visit has been given me plenty to reflect and think about. I am going to do "inking my thinking" during my lessons. I will also endeavour to ask the students to refer and link back to evidence in text more often. Today was informative and will help to refine my teaching.

Holy Family visit

Found watching Jen was very helpful. I was able to see a session at work.
Gained great practical ideas that I hope to be able to implement tomorrow!
